Mastodon! If you're an #artist, #writer, #gamedev, #dnd dungeonmaster, #academic, or otherwise geek-creative, and would be willing to volunteer a short article about your work for the Exilian collective's articles section (which we'd then boost/promote as much as we can and in which you'd be super welcome to plug your work & current projects), please give me a shout! Really need more writers to keep this afloat atm.
@JubalBarca Yeah I'd be down - just google their website or who am I looking for?
@Tyler_roi Hi! So sorry it's taken a while to reply, had an awful last couple of days and I'm kind of ill.
Writing guidelines are at:
https://exilian.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5373.0
And you can scroll through articles so far at https://exilian.co.uk/articles or https://exilian.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=246.0 :)
And for any more info you want you can email exilian[at]exilian.co.uk or toot at either me or @ExilianOfficial. Thanks! :)
@JubalBarca @Tyler_roi @ExilianOfficial I'd be interested in writing something up at some point.
@And_Zoidberg @Tyler_roi That'd be wonderful :) Let me know if you need any thoughts from my end.
@JubalBarca @Tyler_roi For a first piece I'd probably write either about abusing the maximum Fireball range as a halfling sorcerer in DnD 3.5 or that time I ran a campaign of a terrible system and had to constantly adapt it to the players and their actions to keep their interest
@And_Zoidberg @Tyler_roi Either of those would be fun :) The more things/lessons for other folk you can draw out that aren't specific to the particular system the better, but both of those sound good ideas.
@JubalBarca Hi, new here - and sry if these questions are stupid.
- Would you be interested in an article about storytelling in Nordic Larp and how to improve your GM skills? (also how to use this irl)
- I know I make a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes since English is my second langauge, would that be a problem?
Btw, Exilian looks amazing! How did I not know that place!
@nuhn Welcome to Mastodon, firstly, and hi! :)
Regarding your questions:
1 - Yes definitely, that sounds great! I'd just note that including a brief explanation on how Nordic LARP differs from other LARPs might be useful (I know but some readers may not!), & that if you can relate the specific NordLARP tips in ways that non-LARP storytellers or GMs might find interesting that's always a bonus. :)
2 - No problem at all, I'm v much on hand to provide editing/proofreading support & happy to do so!
@nuhn And wrt Exilian - thankyou, do feel free to poke your head in, ask any questions, make yourself at home, etc! :)
I guess it's one of those corners of the internet that's lasted a long time but we've always found it quite hard to spread the word effectively about what we do - hopefully that's changing though.
@JubalBarca I defently will. Also, I told my boyfriend about it, it's so him! He's also the one pushing me to join mastodon.
Bear in mind if you're reading this that no writing experience at all is needed, and we have a professional-level editor on hand to help with both editing and proofreading who's also very used to helping proof works for people who have English as a second or third language - if you have something interesting, creative and/or geeky to say, we want to help you say it!
