I think the takes on that Canada attack suggesting it's somehow "not terrorism" are nonsense. It seems to have been explicitly done with the intent of terrorising and killing women on grounds of their gender - that's a political act. We should be treating these extreme misogynist movements as a genuine terror threat, because, well... they clearly are?
Usual caveat: we currently focus too much as a society on the industry of "fighting terrorism" and passing counterproductive, fear driven "anti-terror" laws that lead to invasions of civil liberties. But whatever the right capacity for anti-terror work is, misogynist terrorism is a valid threat to be looking at. Those Canadians are just as dead as if a regular fascist or a political separatist extremist or an Islamic fascist or a Christian-right fascist had killed them.
