So, Milo of Croton won 6 ancient #OlympicGames #wrestling titles in a row, and a junior title before that. That’s quite impressive. In modern #OlympicGames, the best series of victories are only 4, first by Al Oerter (#discusthrow, 1956–1968), then Carl Lewis (#longjump, 1984–1996), Michael Phelps (#medley "swimming, 2004–2016), and Kaori Ichō (#freestyle #wrestling, 2004—2016). That gives some perspectives on the achievements of Milo, no wonder he is still talked about today.
Obviously, Al Oerter isn’t going to add any title, being dead for 10 years. Carl Lewis is since long retired and one can say he won’t make a comeback, Michael Phelps seems to have definitely retired this time.
But Kaori Ichō seems to be still competing, although I had never heard of her despite of her achievement, how come? She certainly deserves more recognition!
If she contines until 2020 and can claim a 5th title, I certainly hope the world is going to know about her!
