Seeing lots of posts from UK people about the sky being hazy. What's the deal? Wildfires?
@Guardian Oh yeah, forgot about that.
@seanmunger Interestingly it is both! There are fires in Spain and the swirl of the hurricane is dragging the smoke up over the UK and France. https://twitter.com/severeweatherEU/status/919938832568672257
@seanmunger It's something to do with Hurricane #Ophelia. Apparently the storm has dragged bits of dust from the Sahara (and possibly smoke and whatnot from the Portuguese forest fires) with it, and it's covering the UK at the moment.
This probably explains it much better than I have, though.🙂
@Starling Argh, that must be hellish. We had wildfires here (in Oregon) and several days with strange hazy skies. Very unsettling.
@seanmunger Wow - those wildfires must be hellish, too. This kind of event is really unusual, I must admit. We've never had those kind of fires so whenever something like this happens it becomes a big news story all by itself.
It really is a bit unsettling.
@Starling Unfortunately with climate change, this kind of thing is getting much worse, pretty much everywhere. :(
@seanmunger Sadly true. ☹️
@seanmunger Hurricane?
