This particular #AmazonStrike is to do with Amazon shifting work away from warehouses with striking workers rather than negotiating with the workers. The idea is to have a worldwide customer strike in response.
But there are many ongoing reasons to avoid Amazon which are mentioned in the link (bad working conditions, tax avoidance, driving more honest companies out of business, spying on customers' web browsing, locking down ecosystems to prevent people buying from rivals etc).
@pauricthelodger This is the most complete article I've seen on that topic: https://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/alternatives-to-amazons-cloud-services-aws--cms-25409
It includes Google, Amazon and IBM, but if you scroll further down, you'll find many others.
Of all the services cited there, I've only used Linode and I'm happy with it. Many people speak wonders of OVH also, but your choice will depend on your specific needs, of course.
I do, I wrote up a quick list which you can read at https://paste.imirhil.fr/?e8552f315d6f6b6d#KCx7z1KU2c/lyNwoAD7FcnkG261iO2JOP4FU6t3FVV0= (expires in 1 month)
@switchingsocial I would be happy to do some more research for more companies and email them to you if you want.
