The /e/ foundation has started selling phones with their own version of Android preloaded on them:

e.foundation/

The /e/ version of Android is aiming to be de-googlised, but there are still a few remnants of G on them:

Just wondering what people think about /e/?

Should I list it as an alternative to Android? Is it degooglised enough to consider as a "least worst" option?

Fediverse admins,

Please block "freefedifollowers.ga", they are spamming massive numbers of fake followers (I've just had 2000 fake followers for example).

@switchingsocial @Anprim are there any open source email clients for Android that can handle Exchange? I need it for my work email and for now I use the Gmail app. But eventually I'd like to go custom ROM without gapps.

The free open pro painting software has a PeerTube channel which has just become active :blobaww:

You can follow Krita's official PeerTube at:

You can follow their official Mastodon account at:

@krita

You can download Krita from their official website, it's available for Windows, Mac and Linux:

(NOTE: PeerTube is part of the Fediverse, so you can follow its channels and comment on its videos from Mastodon etc. 👍 )

@johannesg I'm about to buy a Kobo too thanks to the recommendations from @switchingsocial switching.social/ethical-alter

It also put me onto Overdrive, through which you can borrow library books on your Kobo. Got a library card for the first time in 20 years yesterday for it.

@jfpkdsnm @rf @switchingsocial Do you know ethical alternatives to Stack Overflow? Maybe ask followers so we can make a list?

@switchingsocial @Minetest On the topic of Linux games, just found this on Twitter, so I said I would ask on the fediverse.

@Minetest

To add, I know there are lists of libre games out there (and I link to them from switching.social) but they are often full of games that are either not that great or aren't being maintained.

Libre game fans,

and @Minetest are examples of good, well-maintained libre games.

Do you know any others you would recommend?

i used to be really into having the newest computer gadget. now i use refurbished hardware. it's so much cheaper. it lasts. it reduces landfill waste. it's great, and i don't really feel like i am missing out on much tech-wise.

here are some tips if you need tech stuff but don't want to spend a lot of money, support horrible companies, and such (1/n)

NextCloud is a really good privacy-friendly alternative to Google Drive, Dropbox, Google Calendar and many other online services.

You don't need any tech knowledge to use it!

The easiest way to sign up for Nextcloud is to use their official "Simple sign-up" page, which directs people to their preferred providers:

nextcloud.com/signup

(Of course, if you are good with tech you can self-host if you prefer 👍)

You can follow them on here at:

💻 tonight i wrote a brief threaded guide to getting started on mastodon in spanish for newcomers

Minetest 5.1.0 will contain a large number of GUI improvements, including easier element positioning, styling/theming, and a main menu redesign. No formspec replacement though, unfortunately! What's on your wishlist?
